As you may all know by now, Visual Studio 2008, Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 will all be launching (or have already launched) this year. As part of our celebrations, the launch team have organised a number of launch events around Australia (more information at the Heroes Happen 2008 website). I just happen to have in my hot little hands 3 tickets (usually worth $200 each) to give out to Australian academics to attend the event in their capital city. The events will feature speaker sessions (split into 3 different speaker tracks) on what’s changed with these products and some of the exciting new things you can do with our new wave of tech tools, so it’s a good way to get up-to-date on the Microsoft platform (plus, I’m sure there will be an after party for most of the events which are always fun). With speakers from both overseas and Australia, the lineup is looking interesting.
To go in the draw to win one of the 3 tickets, send me an email outlining why attending the product wave launch will be of high value to you, your university and the students you teach. And although there’s only 3 tickets I have to give away for free, you can buy tickets to the event at http://www.microsoft.com/australia/heroes/.
EDIT: 29/01/2008 – Since I am in Australia and deal only with Australian universities, this offer is open only to Australian academics. Apologies to my overseas counterparts, but I only have tickets for the Australian events.
