Microsoft Oman hosts the App Academy

The 3-day training event ‘Microsoft App Academy’ hosted by Microsoft Oman, in collaboration with the leading knowledge based community platform in the Sultanate, Knowledge Oman, has attracted over 130 attendees at the auditorium of the Middle East College of Information Technology.

 

 The training session was hosted free-of-charge as part of Microsoft’s commitment to giving developers the skills needed to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and to thrive in their career and Knowledge Oman’s mission to promoting free knowledge across the Sultanate.

 

“We were very delighted by the enthusiasm and the number of participants that attended the 3-day intensive application development training using Microsoft Windows 8 technologies. Our aim at Knowledge Oman is to bring knowledge and education closer to the community members and we are very pleased that our partnership with Microsoft for this programme was a great success,” said Noor al Asfoor, Vice-President Communications and Public Relations at Knowledge Oman.

 

 Commenting on this event, Shaikh Saif Hilal al Hosni, business development manager Microsoft Oman, said: “We at Microsoft realise that innovation is needed to help economies rebuild, and offer developers — professionals and students — a variety of programs to help them learn new application development skills and differentiate themselves in a competitive job market, the App Academy is just one way that Microsoft is offering developers free tools and resources to build apps.”

Held under the theme “Designing and Developing Your First App!”, the 3-day event taught the participants how to develop applications for mobile phones, tablets and desktops that operate under Windows 8. Design concepts and easy methods using Microsoft Expression Blend so as tools and development using Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 was demonstrated with examples in the class. The programme highlighted all steps from design to implementation, showing Windows 8 tools and features as well as how developers can generate money out of their Applications.
