How to create your Windows Store account to submit Apps?

If you want to publish or sell Apps in the Windows Store, you need to open a developer account. You need to open a Windows Store developer account even if you already have a developer account for other Microsoft services—for example, for Windows Phone.

Sign up steps

Note  Before you sign up, be sure to have a credit card handy. The Windows Store requires a credit card to open a developer account—even if you already have a registration code. Also, review Keeping your Microsoft account secure for info on the security measures we take to help you protect your account.

  1. Open your Dashboard in the Windows Dev Center - Windows Store apps.

  2. Sign in with your existing Microsoft account or sign up for a  new Microsoft account.

To learn more about the Microsoft account to use for this step, see Picking a Microsoft account for the Windows Store.

  3. If you don't have a Microsoft Developer Services account associated with this Microsoft account, you can create one now.

Note  If you already have a Microsoft Developer Services account associated with the Microsoft account you used in the previous step, your account info from that account will be copied to your Windows Store developer account.

    1. Select your Windows Store developer account type. For more info about how to choose your account type, read Registering for a Windows Store developer account.
    2. Enter or verify your Windows Store developer account info. If you are registering as a company, you  need the name, email address, and phone number of the person who will approve your company's account.
    3. Review the terms of use. If you'd like to read these terms before you register, see the Windows Store agreements.
  4. Enter your registration code.

  5. Enter your payment info.

  6. Confirm that the account info and payment is correct and click Purchase.

  7. We'll send a confirmation message to your developer e-mail address.
