I have a degree... now where's my job?

It appears to me that many students do not like to get involved with extracurricular activities unless a professor or another authoritative figure tells they they should. In this recent article from the ACM Tech News a college degree doesn't guarantee you a job. While this isn't new news it still appears that many students seem to have this type of outlook unfortunately.

My best advice is to get involved! While getting involved won't guarantee you a job either, it may help open doors that could turn into job opportunities. Become someone on your campus, make a name for yourself, and be sure you leave college knowing that it has nothing more to give to you and you have nothing more to give to it. As Scoble would say, pick something that you like and become an authoritative figure on it. This will help you distinguish yourself from everyone else.

The time now is your's.
