MIX Day 0.5

Hi, this is Mike Richter, website manager and developer for MSDN Magazine.

I knew right away that MIX was going to be amazing when I got stuck behind Flavor Flav while trying to get off the plane in the Las Vegas airport. Having never been to Vegas, it's all new to me, with each hotel, casino, and night club more eye popping than the next. But the most impressive thing so far has really been Scott Guthrie's keynote this morning. The new products Microsoft announced today would make any self respecting developer giddy with excitement. The highlight of the morning was Silverlight. As most of us know already, Silverlight lets developers write cool RIA with AJAX functionality. But today, we saw demos of Silverlight 1.1 which integrates the .NET CLR into the browser. Silverlight uses XAML and elements from the WPF. MSDN Magazine has tons of WPF content already, and look for our first Silverlight article coming in the June issue.

(I'll write more after my sessions).
