Windows 8 Task Manager - App History the megabytes of a telling tale

I hit Ctrl-Shift-Esc to bring up the Task Manager on Windows 8.  This time around I paid a bit more attention to the tabs at the top of the Task Manager.  Yes, you know these…

This time around I took a look at the tab labeled App history

Now take a quick look at the column labels after clicking on App history.  It provides a nice view of the CPU time an apps used, but it also provides details on network bandwidth consumption.  The columns provide the following information:

  • Network – megabytes of network bandwidth consumed
  • Metered Network – megabytes of metered network bandwidth consumed
  • Tile updates – megabytes of bandwidth consumed for Tile updates

As an end user or as a developer of an app this is pretty useful information.
