I spent today at DDD8 and was really impressed with the level of content and the quality of the speakers. This is an event run by and for the community. It takes place in the Microsoft UK offices, but is not an MS event (Microsoft speakers are not allowed).
For me, the highlights were Gary Short’s presentation on functional programming and Clojure, and Neil Robbins’ talk on NoSQL and Couch DB. In both cases the content and the presenters themselves were first class. Jon Skeet was also there presenting an overview of C# 4.0 to a packed auditorium.
If you get the chance to attend a future DDD event then go for it. I don’t generally give up a Saturday for a geek event but this was worth it.
