Font Size Issues in Live Writer?

I noticed recently that the Edit and Preview views in Live Writer weren’t actually reflecting the formatting of a post when it arrived on my blog. This seemed a bit strange as it had certainly been fine in the past. I tried refreshing my blog theme but that made no difference. I mailed the internal alias (the Live Writer team are one of the most responsive and receptive teams I’ve come across at Microsoft) and immediately got a reply from Joe Cheng suggesting I check out his blog post here.

Now, following those instructions didn’t immediately fix my problem but it was certainly on the right track. In fact I had to use the following:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\International\Scripts\3]
"IEFontSize"=hex:01,00,00,00

Note the 01 rather than 02 in the IEFontSize value. This is perhaps because I run at 120DPI / large fonts. In any case, Live Writer started behaving itself again after the change. The only downside is the font size in Live Writer is now markedly smaller than it was (and so more difficult to read). So it’s accuracy vs ease of use. Tough call.
