Elan Dumps Linux For Windows In New Music Server

From Dr.Dobb's Portal - In a move to bring more speed, drivers and future applications to its new line of VIA! djII digital music servers, Elan Home Systems has switched from a Linux-based platform to one built on Microsoft Windows XPE (embedded) operating system backed by a more powerful processor.
The new platform triples the overall speed of the system for faster library sorting and control response, allows for faster and easier development of PC and Mac user interfaces, eases programming and simplifies backup and restore capabilities to any network-attached hard drive, said Bob Farinelli, Elan's president and CTO.

I'm amazed that more developers aren't considering Windows Embedded for their devices, the speed of development, the availability of hardware, device support (and drivers support) the breadth of operating system technologies supported, seems like a no-brainer to me.
