Virtual PC Differencing Drives.

Sometimes you really don't know what you don't know until you stumble across something that shows you what you didn't know. In my case I'm using Virtual PC 2004 to build some Virtual labs for Windows CE 6 - We get 'daily builds' of the Windows CE operating system and tools, so I typically start with a baseline VPC image, clone it, and then install the tools/os onto the image - seems like I don't need to do this at all.

Yesterday evening I discovered Virtual PC Differencing Drives - this is very cool, you can start with one baseline image (that never changes), and then 'layer' an additional VHD onto the baseline image to install your additional apps/services.

Very cool!
