Windows CE 5.0 and Visual Studio 2005 – Recording tutorial videos today.

Today I’m going to be over at Microsoft Studios recording some tutorial videos, some of which I can’t talk about yet, and others that will be instantly useful. I’m recording some short (3-5 minute) introductions to Windows CE 5.0, Windows XP Embedded SP2, and Windows Embedded for Point of Service (WEPOS), and some longer technical videos that cover Windows CE 5.0 and Visual Studio 2005, how to build an operating system that includes the .NET Compact Framework 2.0, how to configure your Windows CE operating system to connect with Visual Studio 2005, and then how to write and debug native and managed applications against the Windows CE 5.0 embedded image.

I also need to write a couple of MSDN articles (or extended blog posts) that cover native/managed application development for Windows CE 5.0/Visual Studio 2005.

Typically, editing/transcoding/posting to MSDN takes about 7-10 days from the point of shooting the videos to being live on the web – I might get the MSDN/Blog articles finished before the videos go live – I will of course post links to the articles and videos when these are ready…

Until those videos are done could you possibly briefly explain how to make an SDK in PB 5.0 so it doesn’t fail VS 2005? The simple SDK I’ve made is seen by eVC++ SP4 but not by VS 2005 Pro which fails while either creating a new project (C++ or C#) or trying to run Device Emulator Manager. It says "Platform … has no devices" and then "Package load failure" and so forth. Both PB and VS are no beta; PB is updated fully.

I’ve posted this question in CE newsgroups with no luck.

Ditto. I’d love to know how to use VS 2005 to target Windows CE (particularly x86 emulator without ActiveSync). I think 7-10 days is now up 😉
