Podcasting - hitting mainstream media ?

You know that technology has hit the mainstream when the old Beeb (British Broadcasting Corporation) adopts the technology - over the last several months the Beeb has been running a trial, exposing three radio shows as Podcast streams - The three podcasts were downloaded as MP3 files a total of 270,000 times in the first four months of the trial (pretty impressive I'd say!) - It looks like the Beeb are going to be exposing more content through Podcast streams, which is great! - I'd like to see more radio stations archive their shows as Podcast feeds - timeshifting content, what a great idea!

Talking of timeshifting, the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is coming to movie theaters on Earth, so it's time to get your hitchhikers guide on your smartphones - what's interesting about this is that Douglas Adams kicked off a community site (which is now owned by the BBC) back in 2001 to allow the Hitchhikers community to contribute content to the guide - this sounds just like a Wiki, right ? - Ahead of it's time? - I think so...
