Announcing Microsoft prePress!

prepress

I’ve been chatting with several avid readers about our new certification portfolio that includes Training Guides and Exam Refs (see Where’s my Training Kit for Windows?).  Today we can share news about an additional offering we hope will benefit you. With our new “Microsoft prePress” program, you can order and receive the ebook version of upcoming Microsoft Press titles—as they are being written!

When you order the ebook form of a Microsoft prePress title, you get immediate access to all available chapters.  We'll post batches of chapters fresh from the oven so that you can get an early look. You’ll have to forgive a few errors and typos along the way—but they can help you get a headstart working with new technologies, topics, and skills.  Next, you may receive interim updates that include more polished versions of the chapters received thus far or additional rough or finished chapters.

The number and frequency of the interim updates will vary title by title, based on the author’s writing schedule, the technology’s release cycle, and the size of the book.  For example, a large book on an emerging technology is likely to have more interim releases than a short book on a shipped technology.  Whether there’s just a single Microsoft prePress release or multiple installments, all customers get the final, fully finished ebook version of the title when it is complete.  And as each installment becomes available, you’ll get auto-notified that it’s ready to download.

To help get more great information out to readers faster, Microsoft Press will make as many of its titles as possible available through the Microsoft prePress program.  You can discover the full list of available titles on our official distributor’s site here.  Check back regularly, as there will be new titles available each month. Current titles include CLR via C#, Fourth Edition; Exam Ref 70-410:  Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012; Training Guide: Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012; and Exam Ref 70-417: Upgrading Your Skills to MCSA Windows Server 2012.
