Award of Distinguished

Best of Show: Informational Materials

The judges cited the tone and clarity of the writing, the consistent use of structure and visual elements to aid navigation, and even threw in some love for the index! But the best comments are those that indicate we’ve created a truly valuable resource for our readers:

This is another of Microsoft’s amazing “under-the-hood” resources. As such, the audience has been clearly identified and the structure has obviously been carefully developed to allow a wide range of readers to locate and access information relative to a specific element of the software package.

The amount of information here is not simply for someone who wants to use the program, but who wants to understand it and its surrounding technical context.

I wish I had a book like this when approaching any new program.

Huge congratulations to Martin DelRe who, as acquisitions editor, convinced Tony Redmond to give Microsoft Press a try and to Karen Szall who, as developmental editor, spent untold hours helping Tony craft his existing manuscript into a shining example of our popular Inside Out series. And, of course, to Tony who wrote a really great book!

Now on to the International competition!
