Give me strength: My kids have discovered Pokemon

It’s official. I’m old. I have no freakin’ clue what my kids are talking about. They love Pokemon, and they spend ages together (which is cool) talking about this stuff.

My son can recite the relationship between each and every Pokeman; what they do, what their strengths and weaknesses are and their heritage.

What a geek! Makes me proud 🙂

And you make a good use of it…

When my son started his Pokemon life, we used to talk about alphabet (which is the Pokemon that starts with ‘A’?), loyalty, friendship and his own growing(which would be his next step in evolution).

    🙂

HA!  We were having a dinner party a few years ago and my son came screaming into the room shouting "Dad, Dad!  I’ve got a jiggly puff".  After a few awkward seconds I managed to stammer "Uh…all boys have them.  Let’s not talk about it right now, OK?".  When I was informed that a "Jiggly puff" was a Pokemon character and not a part of a dude’s anatomy, I was doubly embarassed.

  3. My kids have everything Pokemon and eagerly anticipate each new thing. They speak a foreign dialect and it seems to me that you can throw any random grouping of syllables together and have an 87% chance that it is a Pokemon.

FWIW-my now 9 year old has essentially taught himself math and how to read based on his driving need to understand and master the Pokemon trading card game…so its educational. 😛
