The WSS Solution Kit is Now Available on the Codeplex Site!

For those Hosters who have WSS offerings or are considering them you’ll want to check out the WSS Solution Kit. This solution kit was released a few days ago and is available to Hosters and SharePoint Developers as part of Microsoft’s Shared Source Initiative,  Codeplex.

 

The  WSS Solution Kit alongside the SQL Server Hosting Toolkit are the latest hosting related solutions available on Codeplex. If you were able to attend the Hosting Summit, you had the chance to see Hyder Ali announce this kit which is intended for WSS v3. It leverages the following components and can be customized to fit the needs of each hoster:

· SQL Forms Based authentication

· Custom SharePoint Web Services

· Custom SharePoint Web Parts

· HTTP Module for URL redirection

 

The Solution Kit is composed of two integrated applications. The first is the Solution Configurator which is a tool that Hosters can use to configure solutions based on WSS templates. The second is the StarterKit which your customers can use to build a site based on solutions that were created using the Solution Configurator.

 

There are other great tools and code available on Codeplex. Even if you’re not supporting a WSS deployment I’d encourage you to explore Codeplex and see what else is out there that you may benefit from.
