Microsoft.com + XBOX 360 + Silverlight

This weekend microsoft.com is launching a new ad campaign for the XBOX 360 Elite using Silverlight.  This is a very exciting moment for folks on our team.  We’ve been working on the plug-in for 18+ months now and to be used on such a high traffic site is really amazing.  Click the image below to go to microsoft.com.

Cool video!  FYI for some reason the first time I hit the site, the video didn’t play (just saw ‘replay’ and ‘Now available in the US’ dimmed).  Had to hit F5 for it to play… (maybe a one-off glitch eh? ;o> )

Although Flash and Silverlight are web animation formats, currently there’s a Directshow filter available for Flash because of which certain SWF files can be viewed in WMP. My request to the Silverlight team: please do a similar Silverlight filter.

So I guess my question is. Given that there’s already a version of the CLR on the XBox via XNA how long before Silverlight itself can reach XBox. It stikes me that the Silverlight (eps the WPF aspect) would be a great way of writing apps that make sense for the living room (i.e. nice 10-foot RSS readers etc).

    Funny… 🙂

It works better in Firefox rather than in IE7 on Vista! Kool! 🙂

In IE7 it just a downloaded (not streamed!) wmv-file, but in FF it looks like normal stream.
