I am attending both TechEd USA and TechEd Europe and presenting a couple of sessions. DAT379 is very much a “Here's what is in my XML toolbox today and this is how is gets better in Visual Studio 2005“. Plenty of tears of joy and happiness. Every developer needs to know how to work with XML in their applications today and with new developments occurring within in the industry this need will further increase. This talk focuses on real-world XML scenarios that developers are running into today using the XML programming support that exists in the .NET framework and it also highlights the XML programming improvement in the next release. XML technologies covered include developing and interacting with industry schemas, developing with XSLT and using XQuery to aggregate XML documents from different data sources. The session will also cover the new XML tools built into the next release of Visual Studio, Visual Studio 2005 (code named "Whidbey").

The round table DATPNL is the brainchild of Andy and really is a big group hug session on the joys of data access. XML, objects, relational and the repertoire of issues that this brings with it.

Join members from the data access team at Microsoft for a roundtable discussion about the myriad of current data access options and the general state of the domain. Topics discussed by the data access experts include: 1) comparing/ contrasting current data access choices. 2) An overview of what's new in SQL Server 2005 (code named "Yukon") and Visual Studio 2005 (code named "Whidbey"). 3) A discussion of the data access design patterns and practices which have proved to be most successful. In addition, time is allotted for the experts to discuss topics proposed by attendees.

 

I am going to be spending most of my time between the Data Access booth in the pavillion and the Community Lounge for Data. I will post some times on this blog once I have figure out my schedule of where I will be. If you want to come and talk it will be good to know your opinions and feature requests for System.Xml.
