Platform Strategy Advisor


The Challenge:

The PSA role provides an exciting business development role that focuses on the cutting-edge of Microsoft’s strategies.  This includes the opportunity to own major initiatives and customer opportunities that have significant market impact and which accelerates the adoption of strategic technologies supporting Microsoft’s long term goals.


The Role:

The PSA is the primary business development resource within the Developer and Platform Evangelism (DPE) team for key initiatives and opportunities.  The mission of the Platform Strategy advisor (PSA) is to demonstrate the business value of new innovative Microsoft platform technologies, by driving early adoption and creating the first reference cases that accelerate mainstream adoption. 


The PSA engages senior business and technical decision makers at customers and partners in order to articulate the value of the Microsoft platform, jointly develop customer-specific value propositions, identify opportunities, and drive pilot projects that utilize key innovative technologies and creates new business value for the customer/partner.


About The Group:

Developer and Platform Evangelism (DPE) focuses on promotion and adoption of Microsoft platform technologies, which leads to current and future revenue.  Responsibilities include:

  • Driving highly visible design wins in enterprise accounts that lead to compelling evidence and customer references; this includes scaling design wins on the Microsoft platform enabling services partners to architect and win business-critical applications based on the Microsoft platform
  • Engaging ISVs through depth and breadth technical evangelism activities and providing strategic leadership on ISVs across the subsidiary/district
  • Driving Broad Customer Connection across the Developer, Architect and IT Pro audiences through an integrated approach to evangelism, communities and intelligent audience marketing
  • Marketing of the broad Microsoft platform and developer tools
  • Selling developer tools to enterprise accounts, partners and through the channel
  • Engaging students and faculty in universities and high schools in order to win mindshare of nascent developers



The Responsibilities Of The PSA:

  • Work with the resources within DPE and Enterprise Sales to drive “Lighthouse Wins” with strategic technologies / products / solutions in our Enterprise and Public Sector customer base.
  • Business Development and Orchestration for key/strategic DPE / Subsidiary Initiatives.
  • Top level relationship management with key academic / higher education institutions
  • Business Development support for ISV Recruiting on key technologies
  • Business Development support for DPE initiatives with the Venture Capital and Emerging Business Community
  • Secure customer evidence and case studies that demonstrate market momentum around the adoption of key Microsoft technologies.
  • Performance Metrics – Lighthouse Wins, Proof-of-Concept Deployments, Platform / Technology Adoption, Customer Evidence / Case Studies, ISV Wins and Recruits, Customer Satisfaction



The Fit:


The ideal candidate for the PSA role is a seasoned Business Development Manager or Salesperson who feels comfortable tackling a wide variety of opportunities and challenges.


  • Must have a proven track record in sales or business development
  • Experience orchestration large or complex deals / projects
  • Comfort working in a highly fluid environment and shifting priorities
  • At least 5 years experience within the software or technology industry
  • A passion for Technology and the Microsoft platform
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.  The ability to speak with influence and impact.
  • Strong Organizational Awareness and Business Acumen
  • Clear understanding of Microsoft’s strategies, products and technologies
  • Exceptional teamwork and cross-group skills are essential
  • Ability to make decisions on the fly as to prioritization and utilization of time and resources
  • Comfort with working independently, but within fiscal strategy
