We’re releasing our 4th customer service release for MapPoint Web Service in the wee hours of the night on Thursday/early Friday. This could affect your applications, specifically the uploading of your data. Please ensure your applications are fully tested and your firewalls allow for incoming connections for the additional IP numbers. Here’s the official word from the product group:
Please be advised that as indicated in the recent MapPoint Web Service customer newsletter the MapPoint Web Service will undergo a front-end server upgrade between the evening of November 9th and early morning of November 10th (Pacific Time), barring any unforeseen issues. We do not anticipate any service degradation or interruption to the MapPoint Web Service front-end services during this period, but we want to make sure that, as a valued MapPoint Web Service customer, you are notified of this upgrade.
Find, Render, Route, Common Services & Data Upload Services
With this front-end server upgrade we will be doubling our hardware capacity and thus will be introducing the following two new IP address ranges for the MapPoint Web Service Find, Render, Route and Common services: 126.96.36.199/25 and 188.8.131.52/25. If your company’s network (firewall) policies require that all MapPoint Web Service IP address ranges are known please make note of these two IP address range additions. With these two additions the current list of IP address ranges for the MapPoint Web Service will be:
Please also note that as a result of this front-end server upgrade the IP address for the MapPoint Web Service Customer Services Site and Customer Data Service will be changed from 184.108.40.206 to 220.127.116.11. We strongly discourage that you reference this individual IP address directly, but if you currently are please be aware of this change.
Customer Data Upload Services Availability
Please also note that due to this front-end server upgrade data upload processing via the MapPoint Web Service Customer Services Site and Customer Data Service will be intermittently unavailable between the evening of November 9th and early morning of November 10th (Pacific Time). We recommend that you temporarily suspend uploading data during this period as we cannot guarantee that data uploads will be processed during this timeframe.
To ensure proper functionality and service availability we strongly recommend that you always reference the respective hostnames of the MapPoint Web Service API’s and never specific IP addresses of the MapPoint Web Service API’s.
