I spent some time recently working on a Virtual Earth store locator application. It’s not production level code, but it works! Check it out: http://demo.mappoint.net/vemws/.
For those who are interested, I’m geocoding the input with MapPoint’s Web Service, performing a proximity search on the Fourth Coffee Sample data source (MWS), then creating the Virtual Earth map control and plotting both the returned pins and the location matched from MWS. Included with the pin information is a div which displays the store location information. More to come! I’ll keep you posted.
It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t thank Chandu Thota and Rob Torres for their help. 🙂
