HSxPA and the Kaiser

I just read the specs carefully for the HTC Kaiser device, and it just occurred to me that there isn't only a HSDPA radio but HSUPA as well. For those of you who don't know this already, High-Speed Downlink Packet Access provides for download speeds of 1.8mbps, 3.6mbps, 7.2mbps and 14.4mbps, depending on which capability your mobile operator has implemented. Uplink is a pale 128kpbs and 384kbps. Similar to ADSL type network technologies.

Kaiser will be the first HTC device (that I know anyway) that has High-Speed Uplink Packet Access. HSUPA provides for 0.73mbps to 5.76mbps UPLOAD speeds.

Combine the two and theoretically the Kaiser will be able to download at 1.8mbps and upload at 0.73mbps taking the lowest setting into account. That would make for a much smoother Video calling experience, especially with VOIP clients like Skype and seeding a Bittorrent network (if you're into that kinda thing).

There is a new proposed standard for UMTS called High-Speed OFDM Packet Access (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) or High-Speed Orthogonal Packet Access (HSOPA). What's so good about this standard? It's wireless LAN, with download speeds of up to 100mbps and upload at 50mpbs!!

SAWEEET!
