Service Update (December 8, 2008)

NOTICE: Unfortunately, the update mentioned below has been slightly delayed (see the Update below), and will not be available today. We will let everyone know later this week when the update is ready. In the meantime, consider this a preview of what's coming! [We do apologize for the delay, and thank you for your patience. We want to make sure that everyone has the best possible experience once the update is released, and we need a little more time to ensure that is the case.]

UPDATE: In the world of services, we have blackout periods where no updates are allowed. This is to ensure stability during, e.g., the holiday season when use of a product goes up and the availability of employees to fix issues goes down. The Live Mesh team entered this blackout period before the final testing of our next Live Mesh client for Windows was completed. Thus, we're holding this update until after the holidays - look for more news in early January.

While we updated the clients for Mobile and Mac last week, as well as the Live Desktop, those of you with Live Mesh on Windows computers had to wait a little for your update - but we're happy to say that it's coming later today! Thank you for your patience. See below for the details.

Fixes

  • Conflict-handling improved for duplicate files and folders
  • Live Mesh no longer disables Aero in Windows 7
  • Continued improvements to P2P synchronization
  • Minor usability improvements

This update will bring your Windows Live Mesh client up to version 0.9.3424.11

Windows Vista User Account Control (UAC) reminder

While we no longer require that UAC be turned on when running Live Mesh on Vista SP1, if you initially installed Live Mesh with UAC turned on, and then turned it off, you might have some issues upgrading. Please see “NOTICE: Updating Live Mesh and User Account Control (UAC)” in the Known Issues sticky on the Live Mesh forums for further information.

Thank you for helping us test Live Mesh!
