Earlier this month, Iraq held an Imagine Cup finals event for the first time. The competition brought innovative students from around the country together for a chance to represent Iraq at the worldwide finals in New York City in July.
First Place: Team Hawk
Team Hawk from the American University of Iraq- Sulaimani took home first place and will represent Iraq in the worldwide Imagine Cup Finals.
Team Hawk developed the Refugee Welfare project—a secure system for registering refugees and their welfare needs, such as monitoring health care and education, as well as facilitating aid distribution. The solution provides a mobile means for staff and users with minimal training to enter data relevant to the welfare and educational needs of the refugees. The data collected will be accessible through the same mobile phone system or via any computing device.
Second Place: Wireless Minds
Wireless Minds, another team from the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani, won second place, with
ABC 3D, a solution to address challenges facing primary education. ABC 3D is a picture dictionary for children aged 6 to10. The project allows children or instructors to facilitate the learning of languages, starting with the English language.
Third Place: Regal Team
Regal Team, from the University of Dohuk, created an application that reduces child mortality and improves maternal health. The system keeps track of vaccinations against major child diseases.
Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the Imagine Cup Iraq event. Good luck to Team Hawk as they prepare to represent Iraq at the worldwide finals event!
