Questions about BitLocker

I have a few questions from a few field folks because in Microsoft we are rolling out the usage of BitLocker internally. BitLocker is a great technology feature that encrypts your hard drive and enables you to protect your machine’s data getting in the wrong hands in case your machine goes missing. You can read more about it here

The reason for the post is in relation to the DemoVM. Generally you will be fine using BitLocker on the host machine drive. But if you are using the boot to VHD feature for example if you have Windows 2008 installed to a VHD on your Windows7 or Windows 2008 R2 machine then you’ll have some issues because the VHD won’t be seen at boot-up.

Otherwise as long as you are using a machine that has current up-to date hardware you should be good using BitLocker.

Cheers

Lachlan
