SPOILER WARNING ABOUT THE AMAZING RACE – Yes, there is justice in the world…

Massive Edit: Spoiler Warning (Sorry about that - I figured front page on MSNBC.COM was enough :()

Uchenna and Joyce won.

And they did it with style - even though they were at the finish line, they STILL waited to scrounge enough money to pay their cabbie.

Wow.  That was awesome.

And Rob and Amber didn't win 🙂  The look on Robs face when Uchenna and Joyce got on their plane to Miami was priceless.  I was actually talking to Valorie about how Rob was obnoxious but likable.  When I saw that he wasn't even willing to acknowledge Uchenna on the plane (Amber did), he lost ALL respect.

Yeah, I'm hooked 🙂  Go figure.

Edit: I'm REALLY sorry about the spoiler thingy 🙁

Edit2: 2nd try at improving the "spoiler-free-ness" of the post.  Not that it's obvious that I don't do this often.

Oh yeah, I’m so glad U&J won it. R&K are just obnoxious, and R&A don’t need the money. Basides, Romber are gonna get a free wedding and lots of TV appearances, they won’t be hurting for cash.

You should put (SPOILER) or something to note this was about Amazing Race.. I was just about to start watching the finale but noticed your new entry and had to read it first.

Well I am glad R&A didn’t win.. I had hoped the oldest couple who dropped out week or so ago had won this..

Ah. Now finished watching it. It was still a huge thriller. Totally amazing thing they still got on to the plane after it had the door shut etc!

Larry – what are you doing to us!

Here in Australia that series has just started – we are only up to episode two!

*leaves the Larry Osterman worship cult*

Larry, the series is a year behind in South Africa!!

  6. Gargh,

Sorry about that folks. I was so pumped up about the show that I didn’t think about the fact that other parts of the world picked up the show later than the US (I’m used to the UK getting stuff early so…).

My bad, there are big spoiler warnings on the post.

  7. Wound says:

I know you’re USED to the UK getting this stuff first, but in this case I have no idea at all what you’re on about. Maybe I just filtered out YARTVS (Yet Another Reality TV Show) and missed it, but I don’t think so.

  8. Wound,

TAR, Big Brother and Survivor are the only Generation 1 reality TV shows still on the air. But instead of being about inter-group politics, the drama’s primarily about getting from here to there, instead of about who’s on first.

That’s why I like it – I HATE office politics, and that’s what most of the current crop of reality shows is about (that or profound body alterations/home remodeling/gross-outs).

But getting to see cool cities (and watching people do really strange things with food) is really neat.

I don’t know if they’ve jumped the shark yet on TAR, casting Romber came close. I’ll be interested in seeing what TAR 8 does – they’re doing teams of 4, hoping for families (instead of pairs).

  9. I didn’t realize you were hooked on the Amazing Race, but I’m glad to see that! I am too (as well as The Apprentice and American Idol) but very few people I work with seem to watch reality TV shows! 🙂

I’ve never heard of it either, so we may have escaped altogether. Huzzah!

Larry, your spoiler warning isn’t all that helpful — in both my RSS readers the title gets chopped off after the word "spoiler" so I’d have no idea what was being spoiled without checking the full article, and as there’s not much padding between the warning and the actual spoiler in the article I’d have been pretty cheesed off if I’d actually cared one way or the other about whatever this is that’s been spoiled. 🙂

  11. I actually really like that Rob guy. My first full season of watching Survivor was the All Star season where Amber won. However, I haven’t watched any of the Amazing Race episodes (although maybe I should have since Rob was being the same type of person he was during Survivor).

As far as Survivor, Tom all the way. Him and Rob would have made good allies (they even have similar accents).

You know, this has been my favorite TV show by a huge margin for the last year now, but I will say this, if you liked J&U, you would have LOVED Chip and Kim from the 5th Race. They were lovable like J&U, they had a better set of "villains" to race against, (Colin and Christy were vile, but not in a way that made you cringe quite so much.) and they raced wonderfully.

J&U were wonderful, but they didn’t focus enough on the race, and we quite fortunate a number of times that it didn’t come back to bite them.

That said, congratulations to both of them, and I do like Rob quite a bit. He knew he was there to race and to have fun with his fiancee. So many others lost track of that.

Larry– I think you know that I’m obsessed with TAR, but I had a business trip this week, so I had to DVR the finale. On Tuesday, I made sure that my coworker (who I talk to after every episode) would not spoiler me. Threats of bodily injury etc… if he said anything. So, I get up Wednesday morning in the hotel, and go get my paper that’s outside the door and there it was, right on the upper corner of USA Today where I grabbed it. I wanted to cry. It still was a great race to the end, even knowing the outcome. Spoilers happen, don’t beat yourself up.

But, you actually got me to comment with this entry… yeah, I’m obsessed with TAR.

Season One is supposedly coming out on DVD in June if you didn’t see it!!!! Amazon will notify you if you sign up.

  14. Wow.

Great to see you commenting Edie 🙂

MSNBC did the same thing – on the front page on Tuesday night they had splatted the winners names. By Wednesday morning they’d changed the headline to "Next question for amazing race winners: How to spend 1 million dollars" – thus hiding their names.

TAR on DVD might actually get me to subscribe to netflix – I’m not likely to buy the series (low repeat potential) but I could absolutely see renting it…

See, I do read the blog… I wasn’t sure if you’d fall off your chair when you saw it was me.

TAR 1 is a must own for me.

Now, if you’d only do an entry about 24. It’s hard for me to say which show I’m more obsessed with.

[Larry’s my brother for the curious.]

  16. I absolutely fell of the chair.

Unfortunately I don’t watch 24 🙁 My problem with it is that it’s not easy to pick it up in the middle of a series.

Rob and Amber did win – its rumoured that CBS got Ugena and Joyce on the plane. Which makes sense. It would have been a pretty boring final thirty minutes of the show and R&A would have been sipping Margaritas by the time the other two teams got off the plane…
