M&M's and Big Potty

It’s amazing what those “melt in your mouth, not in your hands” little candies can
do.  My wife and I have been trying for a few weeks to get our two-year-old to
use the “potty.”  The bribe has been lollipops, which have had only marginal
success in the Hammond household.  Earlier this week I took my daughter to the
grocery store, where she spotted two large bags of M&M’s and unleashed with repetitive
songs of, “I want it!”  Our deal?  I’d buy one bag of plain for “potty”
and one bag of peanut for “big potty.”  The plain M&M’s have been going fast,
as she’s not quite grasping the concept of making “big potty.”  However, today
was a breakthrough and she’s discovered the joys of peanut M&M’s.

Our fight now turns to her sitting on the potty in hopes that the action alone qualifies
for the M&M’s, and us having to explain that there needs to be something “left
behind.”

Progress.
