Microsoft Marketing is on a Tear!

I’m the first to recognize that it’s easy to complain, but harder to give props.  Today, I am giving props to the folks who started taking marketing at Microsoft seriously.

I have complained both often and loudly about Microsoft’s marketing.  From the “Office Dinosaurs” to “People Ready”, our track record was looking bad.  Then there seemed to be this fixation on viral marketing through ads that looked like comic books.  In short, we just weren’t doing the right things.  Then we launched a new campaign… with Seinfeld?  Personally, I wasn’t a fan of the Seinfeld commercials… I didn’t (and still don’t) get it.

It’s about time I give props because there has been a turnaround.  Really, there have been some fantastic efforts recently.

However, I love the “I’m a PC” ads.  Really love the guy who sells fish.

Then, my favorite… 4 1/2 year old Dorothy shows us how to make a picture much better.

Even Windows Mobile has gotten into the game as well with a fantastic ad that shows why Windows Mobile is the phone of choice for millions who enjoy the expected things like “copy and paste”.

Well done, Microsoft marketing.  PLEASE keep it up, you folks have been on a tear lately!
