PDC: Day Three Notes 3:30 pm

  • More booth time today. Slower traffic, but the booths are definitely a fun place to work. The mix of people wandering past is terrific. I had a great chat with a guy who writes books on intelligent computing, essentially computing that tries to take human interface as a paradigm for the ways people interact with software. As I understood it, his main point was that we need to have computers that have more intuition built in, which can be built from experience and native intelligence to act as smart devices rather than a sometimes obscure and bizarre system that many people find intensely confusing. He had an interesting point, which essentially goes against the grain for how Microsoft sees the computing world, but it’s fun to be challenged on such a deep level.
  • On a lighter note, we’ve been doing some great swag exchanges. I collected a nice set of shirts and wacky stuff. The cute girl with the two-colored hair who watches the storage booth deserves some extra thanks, so I gave some to her, but my kids will also have plenty of extras to enjoy.
  • Having presented WPF graphics in our booth for the last three days, I’m excited to go to a two-part presentation on graphics in “Avalon” later today.
  • Oh, and the booth is closed for this year. My feet need the break. J
  • It’s been fun seeing old MSDN pals here. Some – Rangan, Brian, Kent – are still there, while others – Amy, George – have moved to other great work. It’s great getting reacquainted.
