Welcome to my new blog. My name is Jason Olson and I am a Technical Evangelist working with the core services in Longhorn Server. Before joining Microsoft, I was blogging at http://www.geekswithblogs.net (howdy all y'all) along with my personal blog site http://www.managed-world.com (howdy self). All in all, I've been blogging for nearly three years now, so I hope to continue that trend going forward with my current job. Heck, it's even in my job description to blog. What could be better, eh?
This is just the end of my first week here so I plan on using this blog as an interesting vehicle. Not only will I be discussing the cool new core features in Longhorn Server, I'll also be providing some transparency by sharing my learning experiences as I go. I'm not just talking about my learning experiences with the new technology, I'm also talking about my learning experiences when it comes to changing to a Server type of thinking after being a Client type of developer in my past.
I'm still not quite used to the fact that I am being encouraged to blog about my work. At my prior jobs, I always felt like I was "a bad little boy" if I blogged about work or during work time. Even during my one-on-one meeting with my manager this morning he brought up some ideas that I could blog about. Now that's pretty cool :).
So, what will you see from me in the future? Hopefully you'll be able to follow me down the yellow brick road in Server Land. I'll try to keep most of the info on this blog technical. I'll be cross-posting to my personal blog (http://www.managed-world.com), so if you want a blow-by-blow account (including what it's like trying to get "up to speed" at Microsoft), feel free to subscribe to my personal feed (http://www.managed-world.com/SyndicationService.asmx/GetRss).
Till we meet again :).
