Going Global with the Global Catalog

First, let me apologize for the time I have spent away from this space. When I started this blog I was hot and heavy into SharePoint Portal Server and Windows SharePoint Services. While I am still very passionate about these technologies, I changed roles in Microsoft in February 2005, and am now involved in any of our Infrastructure technologies. So you will still see references to SharePoint, but I am also going to be sharing my experiences with technologies such as A-D Design, IIFP, SMS, MOM, Exchange and other technologies as I focus on these in our customer environments.

Okay, onto the point of this post =)

Got a question about what exactly does the global catalog in A-D do, and how can you work with it. I have always understood that the GC is a partial replica of all domains (directories for those of your more LDAP orientated) but have never researched specific guidance on its use. After doing some digging, I found this link that I wanted to share:

Enjoy!

P.S. I used the new blogging features in Word 2007 to create this post, and I have to say, I am loving it!
