Startup Switches for Microsoft Word

I was answering a user’s question in our VSTO Forum, and I used data from this KB:

How to use startup command line switches to start Word 2003, Word 2002, and Word 2000

It includes a description of startup switches not included in the Word help. For example, did you know that you can use the /q switch to start a new instance of Word without the splash screen? Probably a lot of people knew this, but I didn’t.

My favorite is the /u switch: it essentially causes nothing to happen. It’s the existentialist switch. Jean-Paul Sartre, never one to miss an opportunity to be popular, has a posthumous work called, /U, the follow up to his oeuvre classique, Huis clos.

Bon Courage!

Third Rock Thought for the Day: While living in France in 1985, there were still posters regularly posted for French singer, Johnny Hallyday. I still have never heard a note of his music, but he has been around for decades and is still putting out tunes. He gets an occasional mention in general rock historicals about the 60’s and 70’s music scene.
