Microsoft Office 2003 XML Reference Schemas- update

I am happy to announce that the update to the Office 2003 XML Reference is Schemas now live. What’s new in this update?

1) We standardized the way the schemas are presented. Previously, each of the schemas was organized, formatted, and presented in a variety of ways, sometimes with dramatically different results. Now, the schemas present themselves in a consistent way making it easier for customers to find their way around.

2) We added other non-file format oriented schemas. Previously, the schema reference contained only schemas for the most prominent (and arguably most important) schemas like those for Word, Excel, Visio, and InfoPath. However, Office technologies employ many more schemas such as those for Research service providers, OneNote (the import schemas), and Project. There was consensus that aggregating these in a package in a type of “schema central” package would reduce confusion and clutter for developers.

Rock Thought for the day: One of my colleagues, Mark Iverson, introduced a band to me yesterday, High Rise. I had not heard of this road-warrior band from Japan. If you like over-the-top fuzzed out guitar jam sessions, this band is for you. It is for me, and I am going to buy some of their stuff. Hearing the song, Door, quickly convinced me that these guys could riff forever, completely unscripted, with endorphine-laced soul yet solid precision. If you have ever been part of something like that, you understand the magic.
