Brilliant Serenity

After admitting to Bill Dunlap, the C++ product manager, that I was a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan, he turned me on to Firefly, a series by Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy. Firefly was killed midseason, but I couldn't figure out why. It was well-written (Whedon is an amazing writer), well-acted, and had a good combination of humor, drama, and general pathos. So of course my wife and I went to see Serenity, which is a movie with the same characters (same actors, in fact), same writers, same sets, and same premise. I loved it. It's great sci-fi opera. If you followed the TV series on DVD, you'll get a sense of where Whedon would have taken the series if it had lasted beyond a single season.
