Recently, I read two things that made me chuckle. The first was Mark Pilgrim's blog posting on Why Specs Matter. I particularly liked his section on Angels. I'm afraid he's more right than wrong.
The second was Taiwan's foreign minister statement about Singapore: "Even Singapore, a country the size of a piece of snot, can swagger around to criticise Taiwan at the United Nations." The diplomatic row that has emerged over that comment, the foreign minister's defense of the comment, and some of the further analysis just made me smile. Not because this isn't a serious situation, but because it's fun to see that the US isn't the only country with politicians who make impolitic comments. People are people everywhere.
