December Community Tech Preview (CTP) of Visual Studio Team System is available for download

Rob Caron already announced this on his awesome Team System blog – but he’s posted a few very important related posts that I want to collect together because you should read them all before installing…

Visual Studio 2005 CTP - December 2004 - DVD (English) is now propagating to the MSDN Subscriber Downloads servers.

Note that it’s a huge download, so I suggest you go there right now, start downloading and have it waiting for you when you get back from the holidays…

Rob not only has one of the best MSDN blogs, he’s also responsible for writing a lot of great documentation for Team System. Here is Rob’s post on his most recent installation guide.

Rob also linked to a very useful article on how to use domain controllers with Virtual Server. Getting the domain controller working well was one of the big problems with the previous Team System CTP – and Rob speaks from experience.

Finally here are Rob’s thoughts on what a CTP is and why it isn’t a beta. And the most important quote from his post:

Please, please, please read the Team Foundation Installation Guide before you install Team Foundation Server.

Have a great holiday.
