Visual Studio Beta 1 Refresh with Team System announced

Rick has announced on his blog that we've signed off on a new CTP of Visual Studio 2005. The exciting thing for me is that this is a refresh of Beta 1, but this time includes Team System!

Summer time, summer time...

It’s also great to be back in the office and see the progress the team has made over the past month!  I’m excited to say that today we signed off on the the last few issues and started the release process for the next Community Technology Preview.  You should be able to get the bits off of MSDN later this week.  DVDs are being burned as well and you’ll be able to get them at VSLive Orlando next month.  This will be a big CTP because it will include the Team Foundation server installation (which I know many of you are very anxiously awaiting).  It will also be based on the Whidbey Beta 1 bits so you will finally have a matched set of Beta 1 compilers/editors/frameworks, and the Team System all in 1 place.  Because it’s based on the Beta 1 bits, the official title of the release will be “Visual Studio 2005 Beta 1 refresh with the Team System”.

If you're wondering why I haven't been blogging much recently, it's because I've been so involved in getting this CTP out of the door. It's been a rollercoaster ride trying to stablize all of our components, get them talking to each other nicely, and to get the Setup for the server pieces finished off.

We've still got a lot of work left to do, and we've already implemented many changes and fixes over what you'll see in the CTP release, but it hopefully it should be enough to give you a picture of where we're heading. Please install it from MSDN when it becomes available some time in the next week - I can't wait to start reading all the great feedback and ideas.
