Developer Wiki Hopefully Coming Soon...

After a month long break, I'm back and this time I'm talking Wikis. July seemed to rush past, thanks to a trip back to the UK, and all that pesky work stuff getting in the way. Honestly, if it wasn't for all this work I have to get done, I could do such much!

Currently, one of the side-projects I'm working on is a Wiki for Mobile Developers. We already have FAQs (which are pre-Windows Mobile 5) on MSDN, but I've been thinking about an easier way of keeping FAQs up-to-date. Also, one of the best resources we have for developers are newsgroups, in which users effectively "help themselves" by sharing information. Thanks to the amazing work and knowledge of the MVPs, there is a huge amount of information present in a newsgroup - but it tends to expire with time and get lost. And so the same questions come up time and time again, the same MVPs have to type the same answers.

I'm hoping that a Wiki might help capture this information, and also be a lot easier to keep up to date. I'm envisaging it being used to store really practical information for Pocket PC and Smartphone developers, with lots of source code examples, at all levels.

So to get it started, I'm currently building a Wiki with a few bits and pieces, and hope to roll it out to be publicly available in the new few weeks.

I've still got a few questions to wrestle with. Should it be completely open to anyone posting, or should only MVPs be allowed to edit? I guess we can start with a completely open system, and see how long it lasts :-)

Let me know if you have any comments.

p.s. Check out the WindowsMobile blog, as they've recently added a LOT of killer information.
