SharePoint 2016 February 2017 CU and MIM to import user profiles

MIM and User Profile Import into SharePoint Server 2016, hence not using “Active Directory” synchronization.

You may read in https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3141517/february-21-2017-update-for-sharepoint-server-2016-kb3141517 the following:

This update fixes the following issue:

When you set up an External Identity Manager, the group membership isn't synchronized as usual. This update now includes a new timer job "Updates Profile Memberships and Relationships Job" that runs by default every five minutes to update the changes after an import.

You installed this cumulative update package, because you had concerns that the attribute “Manager” will not be synced into profile store.

After the install of all the binaries, explained here: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/joerg_sinemus/2017/02/22/sharepoint-2016-february-2017-cu/ ran psconfigui, the “Health Analyzer” reported; in case the scheduled job “Health Analysis Job (Hourly, User profile Service, Any Server) finished already one time after psconfig:

Please click that link on the Health Report page and you will reach the following page:

After the repair, the issue should be solved and in the “Review job definitions” page you may now find the right new job:

UPA is the name we gave for the service in our farm, it may differ to your configuration.

And a positive result, after the job ran at least one time, may look like this:

The other way to find this problem with the new timer job, is when you look into ULS Logs:

Critical

The SharePoint Health Analyzer detected an error. Verify that the critical User Profile Application and User Profile Proxy Application timer jobs are available and have not been mistakenly deleted. A required timer job for a User Profile Application or User Profile Application Proxy is missing. The repair action will recreate missing timer jobs required for the User Profile Application or User Profile Application Proxy. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=159660".

The best way to solve this, is through the health analyzer report from above.
