SharePoint 2010 and April 2015 CU

Our next cumulative update packages are available. For SharePoint we are still suggesting to install a Full-Server package and that looks as follows.

New since November 2014: From now the prerequisites has been changed, you need to have Service Pack 2 installed before upgrading to the next CU. That means as well that the Service Pack 1 is out of support: http://support2.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=14944

The format how we are providing the Cumulative Update packages has changed with cy 2015, means you can find all packages on our Download Center.

When you reached the download website, it is independent which language you chose, the packages are the same.

Project Server 2010:

Important for all Server Applications listed above:
After applying the preceding updates, run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard or “psconfig –cmd upgrade –inplace b2b -wait” in command line. This needs to be done on all servers in the farm with SharePoint installed. You can run psconfig in parallel on all SharePoint machines.

I was wondering if I install just the security updates for SP server 2010 (KB2551364) and the Security update for Project Server 2010 (KB2965302) is running psconfig still necessary after each install?

    Thank you

  2. From the support perspective it is always recommended to install a Full-Server package. Those security updates are also cumulative updates and smaller packages, but only for a part of the whole SharePoint functionality. psconfig is still a mandatory step after any installation of SharePoint packages.
