SharePoint 2013 July 2014 CU

You are reading right, we have the first monthly cumulative update package for SharePoint Server 2013 and all the other Office 2013 products.

In case you saw the security fix updates first: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2980001 please remember that the CU packages below are containing the changes you could install with the security or public update (PU).

Be aware that all Updates for SharePoint 2013 require March 2013 PU for SharePoint 2013 to be installed first or our recommendation is to have SP1 installed.

Important for all Server Applications listed above:
After applying the preceding updates, run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard or “psconfig –cmd upgrade –inplace b2b -wait” in command line. This needs to be done on all servers in the farm with SharePoint installed. You can run psconfig in parallel on all SharePoint machines.

You might have you own strategy to run psconfig because it depends on the farm structure and what makes sense to reduce the downtime.

Trying to install theses updates via WIndows Update's "July 2014 Patch Tuesday" set consistently fails (3 times now) with error code 8007066E.  All other pieces of the "July 2014 Patch Tuesday" set install successfully.  I have yet to find an answer to this issue.    The 4 KB's in question that Windows Update attempts to install are:

    KB2863826

    KB2863837

    KB2881003

    KB2881077

I eagerly await word from Microsoft for a fix to this issue.

  2. PoetryDoesNotNeedToBeReInstalled says:

I have the exact same issue on our SharePoint-Farm.

    KB2863826

    KB2863837

    KB2881003

    KB2881077

All of them fail with error 8007066E.

I also would love to hear from Microsoft on how to fix this.

  3. Did you create a support-case to address that issue?

  4. PoetryDoesNotNeedToBeReInstalled says:

    No, I did not.

Do you think this could help?

  5. eric says:

this usually happens when you have the original sp1 installed. microsoft re-released this update. the recommended solution is to install the new version of sp1 then run the config. after that the updates should install fine.

  6. Thanks to Eric and it is described here regarding the re-released SP1: blogs.technet.com/…/sp1-for-sharepoint-2013-has-been-rereleased.aspx

  7. swtjen01 says:

In the Project Server 2013 downloadable section one of the three files to download says Project Server 2010 instead of 2013.  The directions say to download all three before you begin the install.  The other downloadable files for SharePoint Server all show the same 2013 version.

Is this just a naming error or do we need to download all three files as shown?
