    Thanks. Quick question though:

Why are cumulative updates sometimes split among a few different packages, with the main update having 99% of the fixes and the others usually having as few as 1?

It happened again this month, with 977022 being the main one and 977731/2 having one each. I’m assuming the lot of them should always be installed together, even if you’re only interested in the main one.

  2. We call these Cumulative Update packages and therefore not only new fixes are in those packages. In addition all possible installed language packs are also updated with packages like 977027.

OK, but if, as always happens, the cumulative update is released at the same time as the extremely small adjunct updates (in this case, 977731/2), why do the latter exist as separate entities?. Why aren’t they part of the cumulative?

I can understand why when updates follow at a later time, such as 978210 just did.
