Syme Times Two: Father of F# at NERD

Don SymeDon Syme, Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research Cambridge (the one across the pond), will be at NERD this week for two separate public engagements. Many of you know Don’s name as the originator of F# and author of Expert F# as well as the creator of generics in the .NET CLR.

.NET Rocks! RoadTripOn Wednesday, Oct. 17th, Don will be the special guest for the Massachusetts stop of the .NET Rocks! Visual Studio 2012 Launch Road Trip, featuring Carl Franklin and Richard Campbell. The duo will set up shop at Microsoft NERD, with the event taking place 7:30 to 10:00 p.m., co-located with the MonkeySpace taking place this week.  RSVP here.

 

The following evening, Thursday, Oct. 18th, the New England F# User Group will host Don at its FSUG.org - New England F# User Groupmonthly meeting, held just two blocks away at the new Microsoft Office at 1 Cambridge Center. The user group meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., and Don’s topic is The Meditations and Applications of F# Type Providers, a new language feature of F#.
