Big Data in Windows Azure–On-line Presentation

If you haven’t checked in on what Microsoft is doing in the Hadoop and Big Data arena yet, now’s your chance! I’ll be presenting as part of the on-line Windows Azure User Group, tomorrow, July 11th from 4-5:30 (ET).   Registration is free, so I hope you can join me.

Cheap storage and ‘unlimited’ scalability in the cloud make Windows Azure a perfect platform for “Big Data” processing. Furthermore, Microsoft’s partnership with Hortonworks to bring the Hadoop map-reduce framework and other parts of that ecosystem to Windows Azure is a key part of its strategy. In this session we’ll look specifically at the Hadoop on Azure offering, currently in limited preview, including its support for Hive and Pig and its integration with PowerPivot.
