Forecast: MIX

I was struck by the irony of viewing the local weather forecast shortly after learning about the opening of registration for MIX 11, in yup, Las Vegas – at the Mandalay Bay.  MIX isn’t until April 12-14th, but what better incentive to plan a trip than yet another snowpocalypse?  and at this rate, it’s not like the snow won’t still be here in April!

Snow Vegas

MIX registrationIf you’re not familiar with MIX, it’s the premiere Microsoft gathering of developers, designers, user-experience experts, and geeks of all sorts focused on the innovation of the web.  It’s a chance to learn about product direction – Silverlight, Windows Phone, IE9, and more – converse with Microsoft product experts, network with like-minded professional colleagues, and take in a bit of the Strip.

For those wanting to go really deep, there are even some pre-conference boot camps on HTML5, Silverlight, Windows Phone, jQuery, design and coding strategies and more.

In fact, if you register before February 11th, with the $500 discount on your pass (and a free hotel night), you can essentially attend one of the bootcamps ‘free’ and still have enough left over to hit the tables or slots.

Be sure also to visit the Open Call page at the registration site.  You’ll find over 100 session abstracts listed there, all submitted by community speakers and experts (with a great representation from the Northeast District, I might add!).  This is your opportunity to vote for the sessions you want to see at MIX, in addition, of course, to the fabulous presentations and announcements we already have planned for you.
