Windows Phone Developer Launch (Oct 12-13) in Cambridge

You may have heard that today the final release of the Windows Phone Developer Tools are available.  imageFor those of you looking to post your application to the marketplace when it goes live in October, you’ll need to use this release in order to pass application certification.

And for those of you who have not yet had the chance to start exploring Windows Phone 7 development, here’s a chance to really bootstrap yourself and get access to a device to test out the app that’s perhaps your ticket to retirement!  A two-day Windows Phone Developer Training event (well, actually two one-day events) are coming to the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, on October 12 and 13th.

Day 1 (register here) consists of a series of sessions to introduce you to developing for the phone, understanding the design paradigm, and monetizing your application in the marketplace:

Session 1: Get Started! The Basics of Building Apps on the Windows Phone 7 Platform
Session 2: From Idea to Interactivity: Design Guidelines for Windows Phone 7
Session 3: Supercharge Your Windows Phone 7 Apps with Microsoft Silverlight
Session 4: Step Up Your Game with Windows Phone 7 and XNA
Session 5: Monetizing Your Apps with Marketplace
Session 6: The Power of the Cloud: Exploring Windows Phone 7 Services

Consider Day 2 (register separately here) somewhat of a hack-a-thon.  There will be proctored labs and devices on hand, but you can also use the time to turn your own “back of the envelope” sketches into reality!

If Cambridge is a bit far for you, don’t forget that my colleagues from the Philly area – Dave Isbitski and Dani Diaz – will be reprising the Windows Phone 7 Firestarter (and Windows Phone Garage) in Farmington, CT on September 30th – be sure to register individually for the Firestarter and the Garage.
