Bing: The Big Broadcast

imageIf the only things Bing connotes to you are White Christmas, Friends, or cherries, that will be changing soon.  Last Thursday at the D Conference, Steve Ballmer announced Bing, Microsoft’s new search engine.

Bing will be live worldwide on June 3rd, but if you want a sneak preview you can take a look at the materials on the Presskit site, or consider attending an interactive webcast on June 1st, where we’ll walk though through all the cool features of Bing.

What is Bing?

Bing is a “decision search engine” designed to go beyond just providing search results and aid in making more complex decisions, in which a given search is only part of the equation.  For instance, there are several areas in which we all spend a lot of time bouncing around various sites and poring over search results – booking a vacation, shopping, finding information on a local business, and health-related research (searching for symptoms, medication effects, etc.).  Bing is optimized for these types of scenarios with elements like the Price Predictor, Explore Pane, and Sentiment Extraction, to aggregate and present additional information relevant to your task.
