Getting the design right and the right design - Bill Buxton

SketchingUserExp Here is just some of the latest research into how create stellar user experiences:

Bill Buxton’s book “Sketching User Experiences” details how extraordinary design can be achieved, including detailed analysis of very successful products like the iPod (which by the way wasn’t an overnight success––it was on the market for 3 years with 4 iterations before the “overnight success”). This book takes a holistic look at the problem considering organizational structure, the role of business decision makers, the engineers, the designers, and the foundations in user research.

And of course, it has a great deal of discussion about the best practices around concept sketching and developing a large number of alternatives, quickly and cheaply,  before committing to one design – which research shows yields better designs.
