Winter Wonderland, In Seattle???

Normally a picture such as this one from my friend and co-worker Peter would elicit oohs and ahs--a winter wonderland. But in Seattle a picture like this strikes fear into the hearts of your average Seattle driver. Snow like this pretty much closed the city down. Cars were abandoned and people walked home or slept in their cars.

I was coming home and spent most of my time maneuvering around spinning and/or sliding cars, people walking in the road, and cars that were just parked in the middle of the road. Having prepared my car for winter, I didn't slide at all, was able to stop on a dime, and accelerate up steep hills. Miraculous? No, normal driving for anyone from the mid-western part of the US.

At work this morning it is quiet, with many people opting to work from home. I've got holiday music going, a nice warm cup of joe, and a lot of work to do. Sometimes it's nice to be relatively alone as you can get a lot more work done than you can when everyone is here.
