Google Phone?

There is a whole host of rumours circulating the Internet and Blogosphere right now about a potential Google Phone emerging....

So what's going on?

I've been following this with interest (like the iPhone from Apple)

The rumours go from everything from an Orange Google Phone built by HTC to a Samsung phone running linux.

Then there is the presence of Andy Rubin on Google campus regularly which again causes us to reconsider the rumours above.

Who is Rubin? He was one of the co-founders of Danger, the company that makes the Sidekick devices. He sold his last company, Android to Google for an undisclosed amount of money, and he has been seen around Google campus regularly....

Google has repeatedly denied they are working on a Google Phone however their Chief Executive in Spain and Portugal then admitted they have something in the works but then downplayed it as only one of many R&D projects...

So what's this phone actually going to do - well an interesting Patent Filing by Google may give some clue as reported HERE

The patent filing details an application that can predict what a user is searching for or the words they are typing in a text message by taking into account the users location, previous searching / messaging history and even the time of day.

There are other potential details here Non-Standard patent entry that Google submitted in 2005

So is this another conspiracy theory taking the breadth of evidence and coming up with something designed to meet the original intent of proving such a thing exists or is there life in the Google Phone?

From a Windows Mobile perspective I'm intrigued to see what happens here....
